Born in Canada in 1951, Julie first became an actress at the age of seven in the television series Boy Oh Boy. She moved to Toronto in the mix 70s and played virtually every theatre in the city. Julie turned to writing when she married theatre producer Gary Clarkson and had four children. Her early work was in various fringe venues: Keeping Down With the Joneses, The Sand Dune and What Time Do You Call This? which ran for two years at the Bayview Theatre. Many television comedy contributions followed in both Canada and the USA. Julie has always been fascinated by the menopause as it was such a traumatic and strangely humorous period in her life and gave her more understanding of her fellow sufferers. She wrote a book on the subject How to Approach the Change and Win which was translated into many languages. Julie divorced her husband during this menopausal time on the grounds that men never grasp the moods or needs of their wives. She now writes novels from her cottage at the edge of a wood in Niagara where she lives with her five dogs, three cats and a tame snake called Kevin. She thanks Paul Elliott and Michael Harrison for asking her to write the book for this show and making her Hot Flush happen all over again!
